Pairing and COI
Plan the next generation with your studbook.
Your registrar checks a pairing before the animals are bred. Pedigrees fill in from your registry, and the COI lands in bands your club sets.
Pedigrees
Sire and dam, pedigrees filled in.
Your registrar searches by name or registration number. Breed Ledger shows both pedigrees from your studbook, five or six generations deep, calculates the COI from up to eleven, and says when ancestors are missing.
- Registry staff only, never on the public site
- Only animals registered with your club
- Pedigree completeness shown with every result
5.5 percent, in the Moderate band. Bands are set by the club.
COI and bands
A number with a frame around it.
The COI lands in bands your club sets. The repeated ancestors are listed with how many places each fills in the pedigree, so the registrar can see where the number comes from.
- Bands and labels set by your club
- COI and AVK on every result
- Repeated ancestors, with how often each appears
Saved pairings
Results your registrar can keep.
A pairing can be saved with its outcome, exported as a PDF with your club's logo, or shared with the breeder by a link that can be extended or revoked.

Outcross program
Work out an outcross program.
The table shows the expected share of original-line ancestry, generation by generation. When an animal counts as original line is your club's rule.
| Line | Expected share of original line | How it is made |
|---|---|---|
| Original line | 100% | The club's established studbook. |
| Foundation outcross | 0% | Brought in from outside the studbook. |
| F1 | 50% | Foundation outcross × original line. |
| F2 | 75% | F1 × original line. |
| F3 | 87.5% | F2 × original line. |

A note on COI
Pedigree COI is calculated from the recorded pedigree. Genomic COI comes from a DNA test, and labs measure it in different ways. The two measure different things, so they are shown separately and never compared as if they were the same number.
