Payments

Dues and fees, paid to your club.

Dues, registration fees and event entries through Stripe, paid to your club’s own account, with every payment, refund and dispute in one place.

Transactions

Every payment, with what it was for.

Each payment names the member and what it paid for. Refunds and disputes show beside the original charge.

  • Dues, registrations and entries
  • Refunds beside the original charge
  • Disputes with the evidence due date

Set up

Your club’s own Stripe account, connected by an admin.

An admin connects your club’s Stripe account from Money in Breed Ledger. Stripe verifies your club directly, so the person who connects it signs Stripe’s agreement and gives Stripe the business details, a government ID and the bank account for payouts.

Stripe may ask for more detail before it turns payments on.

Fees

Fees set by your club.

Registration and entry fees are settings. A registrar cannot approve a registration until its fee has cleared.

  • A standard price, then a later price by age
  • Entry discounts by membership
  • Registration fees only when your club sets one and turns on member animal records

Dues

Breed club dues, collected online.

When your club sets joining to paid sign-up, new members pay their dues by card as they join. Your roster shows the date each member’s dues are paid through.

Registration fees

Registration fees, when your club turns on member animal records.

When your club turns on member animal records, members pay the registration fee as they submit, on Stripe’s checkout page, and a club setting decides whether a paid request is approved as soon as the payment clears or waits for a registrar.

Entries

Entry fees, when your club turns on events.

When your club turns on events, each class can set an entry fee, and members can pay online. A pay-to-apply class with a fee refunds that payment automatically if the entry is rejected.

When your club turns on events, a member can request withdrawal of an accepted entry paid online. An admin can approve it with a Stripe refund or deny it with a reason, and admins can record an offline payment on an accepted entry.

Payouts

Payouts and your bank account stay in Stripe.

Admins open your club’s Stripe Express Dashboard straight from Money. Payout timing and the bank account that receives payouts are managed there. A refund issued in Stripe comes back into your club’s transactions list.

Questions

Payments questions.

Whose Stripe account is it?
Your club’s. Payouts go to your bank account through Stripe Connect.
What does Breed Ledger charge on payments?
Members pay by card through Stripe, into your club’s own account. By default, Breed Ledger charges a 1% fee with a $0.50 floor and a $3.00 cap on each payment. Stripe’s card processing fee is separate.
Do the same fees apply to recurring dues?
Yes. The same default fee applies to each dues payment, renewals included.
Who can open the club’s Money area?
Only your club’s admins. There is no payments-only role, so anyone who needs Money needs the admin role. Registrars and members do not see Money.
Do members need a Stripe account to pay?
No. Stripe’s checkout page takes the card, and members need no Stripe account of their own.
What happens when a member disputes a charge?
It shows in Money with the payer, the amount, the reason and the date Stripe needs your evidence by. What the payment covered stays in place while the bank decides.
Can we find one payment quickly?
Yes. Search the transactions list by payer or payment ID, or filter it by type, such as dues or refunds.
